One of the most famous linux and open source based forums “Ubuntu Forums” has recently been compromised. It is offline for nearly past two days and while opening , users can easily see the message “Ubuntu Forums is down for maintenance”.
As per ubuntu Forums announcement page hackers have gotten hold of every username and password and re-installation work is in process to restore the forums , it has been a terrible news for Ubuntu and Linux lovers.
Canonical has announced a progress report regarding incident and restoration as follows

2013-07-20 20:15 UTC: Site taken down, this splash page put in place while investigation continues.
2013-07-21: we believe the root cause of the breach has been identified. We are currently reinstalling the forums software from scratch. No data (posts, private messages etc.) will be lost as part of this process.
2013-07-22: work on reinstalling the forums continues.

As of June 30th Ubuntu Forums seems to have been restored and Canonical has implemented Single Sign On to login to forums using Ubuntu One credentials. Great!!!!
